Strange Noise Roars From Florida Sky

Over the past couple of months, I have been hearing reports of strange sounds that seem to be coming from the sky. The strange thing is, these reports have not been localized to a specific area. Individuals have reported “sightings” of the sound from all over. Quite a few people have jumped on the HAARP bandwagon, but I think that label gets slapped on phenomena way to easily, so I am refraining from joining in for now until there is better evidence of that. What we do know is that this low bass rumble seems to continue for extended periods of time and no one know what it is or what is causing it (at least anyone who is talking). This example comes to us from Tallahassee, Florida, posted May of this year to YouTube. According to the witness, 911 and the local news station reported receiving multiple calls about the sound that lasted 20 minutes.

The witness reports that the final “answer” offered by the local news was that the sound was thunder. As a life long Floridian who has been in his share of storms, I can tell you, that is no thunder. Sheilaaliens on YouTube, thinks that the noise may be from NASA’s rocket tests at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. However, Stennis is over 300 miles from Tallahassee. If the sound was so loud witnesses thought there was a tornado coming, the test would have been deafening in closer communities, including the city of New Orleans (which is only 40 miles away), but we don’t have any reports of the sort. Especially when you consider this video from St. Petersburg (450 miles away) that was taken at the end of August of a similar noise, if NASA testing is to blame for the racket, it sure doesn’t seem to be coming from the Stennis Space Center.

This only begins to address the Floridia “sightings” of the sound. In similar videos you can hear the sound in Maryland, Spain, Denmark, and many other places all over the world. These sounds all seemed to suddenly start this year. What could be causing the racket? HAARP? A geologic event? UFOs? Tell us what you think in the comments.

The Mystery Continues: Abductee Symbol Still Unidentified

Unidentified symbol related to abductions

Nearly two years ago a strange symbol was brought to my attention by paranormal researcher Chris Holly. She encountered the bizarre glyph while investigating UFO abductions and turned to the internet to aid in identifying its origin. Like many other people she had spoken to, I recognized the symbol, but could not seem to recall from where. This bothered me, so I began my own investigation into the symbols origin. After spending countless hour searching through UFO and abduction reports over the past months, Ms. Holly and myself are no closer to determining the symbols meaning or origin than we were at the beginning of our search.

As part of my investigation, I used Google’s “Search By Image” functionality to try to see if anyone else had posted a similar image online. While the search has continually failed to produce any direct image matches, it has however yielded interesting results. When I searched using a version of the symbol drawn in black, the top similar results were all diagrams of molecules. This has led me to think that the symbol may not actually be a symbol per say, but instead some sort of diagram. Unfortunately, without labels the diagram’s meaning is not immediately apparent. Quite often, abductees under hypnosis recall being shown images by their captors almost as if they were being instructed. I can’t help but wonder if this diagram is part of some such “lesson”. What then could the “lesson” be? Is the symbol a constellation, some sort of chemical or biological structure, or even a road map identifying an important location? Hopefully someone will recognize this series of lines as something familiar. So once again, I would ask that if you happen to have ever seen or are familiar with the symbol/diagram at the top of this post in ANY context, please contact me at john@meetstheweird.com. Any information you could provide is appreciated. Hopefully together we can finally solve this mystery.

When Chris Holly posted a hand drawn sketch of this symbol asking if anyone had seen it before, I felt like it was very familiar, yet I am unable to remember where I have seen it. To use a filing cabinet as an analogy, I know which drawer the folder is in. The folder is clearly labeled, but when I look in the folder, there is nothing in it. When I contacted Chris to let her know that, she replied that several other people had told her, just as I had, that the symbol looked familiar, but that they couldn’t place it.

Through my research, I have been unable to find any symbols remotely like this one. So in the hopes that some one will either recognize the symbol or have some clue about its origin, I am joining Chris in asking the internet at large for help identifying this mysterious glyph. Mysterious lights spotted over South West Florida

For approximately one minute a series of bright flashes were visible across the South West Florida communities of Cape Coral, Sanibel, and Ft Myers. Witnesses reported electrical anomalies in their homes and some were even unable to start their car. Following the event, 5,000 homes on Sanibel Island were without power. Currently there is no official explanation for the flashes, though some speculate that the lights may have been caused by failing substations. However this theory would not explain the inability to start cars or the strange sensations felt by witnesses. Watch the flashes for yourself and let me know what you think they are in the comments:

2012 Debunked In A Simple Chart

Whether or not you believe that the world will end on December 21st, 2012, it has been near impossible to escape the media blitz surrounding the theory that the pre-columbian Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012. There is a major motion picture debuting today, numerous TV specials, and even a planned TV series all based on the supposed 2012 apocalypse. Even if you only have a passing interest in the 2012 phenomenon, you should take a look at the incredible chart that Information Is Beautiful has put together that debunks some of the key 2012 “evidence”. They start right at the core of the issue, tackling the mistaken belief that the Mayan calendar ends on December 21st, 2012. They clearly and concisely move through approximately 20 talking points that are favored by many 2012 believers and present clear evidence to dispute them. This is quite possibly the best “quick explanation” of the flaws with the 2012 theories that I have ever seen. It is definitely worth giving up a few minutes to scroll through.

New Lead in D.B. Cooper Mystery

The Seattle Post-Intellengencer is reporting that the FBI has a new lead in the 37 year old D.B. Cooper hijacking case that raises more questions than it answers. A south west Washington resident’s children found a parachute while playing in a rural field he had recently plowed. The FBI believes the parachute is possibly of the same type used by a passenger identifying himself as Dan Cooper during the hijacking of a 727 in 1971. After receiving $200,000 in ransom money and releasing the jet’s passengers, Cooper instructed the pilot to take off, eventually jumping from the jet’s rear stairway mid-flight, ransom in hand. The recent parachute discovery is within the area where Cooper would have landed. If found to belong to Cooper, this new parachute raises some new issues that add to the theory that Cooper was not killed during his escape as the FBI claim. In 1980 a young boy on a picnic with his family found $5,880 of the ransom money along the Columbia River. Experts agree that because of the money’s shallow depth that it could not have been placed on the shores of the Columbia River any earlier than 1974, three years after the hijacking. The lack of a body at the parachute discovery site and its distance from the spot where the ransom money was discovered makes the possibility that Cooper survived the jump quite plausible if the parachute can be linked to the ones given to him in 1971. I personally think that Cooper made the jump, escaping with the ransom and the cache of money found on the banks of the Columbia was a back-up stash placed by Cooper if he felt he needed to run from where ever he settled. While we may never know what happened to D.B., please feel free to share your own theories in the comments.
