Over at Phantoms and Monsters, Lon Strickler relates a horrific tale of a new mother who fears that her newborn child may be the victim of extraterrestrial experimentation. The story begins with a normal pregnancy, other than the mother was ordered on bed rest by her OB/GYN, who also insisted on performing the expectant mother’s checkups in her home as the delivery date grew near. During one of the otherwise routine visits, a nurse that had come to assist the doctor administered a “light sedative” that rendered the young lady unconscious. The remainder of the pregnancy and the delivery was largely uneventful.

Two months after giving birth to a healthy baby boy, the new mother noticed that his eyes had shifted from blue to a dark violet color. As her normal OB/GYN had taken an extended leave of absence right after she gave birth, the mother who Lon refers to as Lisa, phoned her new doctor who assured her that it was normal for the baby’s eye color to shift. Late in the morning of New Year’s Eve, the baby cried out. Lisa ran to her child’s side. Suddenly he stopped screaming, looked up and a membrane blinked horizontally across his eyes (not unlike you would see in a lizard).

Lisa rushed the child to the hospital. When doctors examined his eyes, they could find no trace of the membranes. Additionally when she inquired when her normal OB/GYN would return, Lisa was told he had quit his practice. Additionally, no one at the hospital or clinic ever remembers a nurse matching the description of the one that accompanied the doctor on his house calls ever working for either facility. While she has not seen the membranes since New Year’s Eve, Lisa swears something is different/wrong with her son.

Are Lisa and her son victims of experiments in human hybridization preformed by or for extraterrestrials, or is this a tale of a mother suffering from hallucinations caused by postpartum depression? After checking the facts given to him by Lisa, Mr. Strickler has been unable to find any fault with what he has been told about this troubling incident. I honestly do not know what to think, other than my heart goes out to Lisa, who is genuinely distraught over this experience. I can’t even begin to imagine what she is going through.

A New Mother’s Concern @ Phantoms & Monsters

Earthrise_cutout.jpgWe’ve all seen the posts in forums, twitter, and on blogs proclaiming that government is about to announce the existence of extraterrestrial life. I usually glance through them, take a moment to think about how cool it would be and move on. I just have never thought that the government would ever risk the fallout from such a world changing announcement. Lately though, I have heard more and more talk about disclosure happening sooner rather than later. In fact there is talk that the government might finally be ready to tell us the truth this year and I am starting to think that it may be a strong possibility.

The odds of being hit by a meteorite are, quite frankly and for lack of a non pun inducing term, astronomical. In fact there is only one known case in all of recorded history of a person actually being hit by a meteorite. This makes what is happening to one Bosnian gentleman so incredible, that it defies all reason and logic. Radivoje Lajic’s house in the village of Gornja Lamovite has been hit by meteorites no less than 5 times since last November. All of the rocks brought by Mr. Lajic to Belgrade University have been verified by experts as being meteorites. Adding to the strangeness of this already bizarre tale, the meteorites seem to only fall during heavy rains. Scientist from the university are investigating the area looking for any magnetic anomalies that could possibly attract the space rocks to the house. Mr. Lajic has a less Earthly explanation for the strikes, claiming that he is being attacked by extraterrestrials.

“I am obviously being targeted by extraterrestrials. I don’t know what I have done to annoy them but there is no other explanation that makes sense. The chance of being hit by a meteorite is so small that getting hit five times has to be deliberate.” Lajic told reporters. He has since had his roof heavily reenforced.

There is obviously something going on in this Bosnian village, though I don’t know if anyone is on the right track looking for a cause. I would imagine that a magnetic field strong enough to repeatedly guide meteorites in to a specific location would have other tell-tale signs of its existence (watches malfunctioning, compasses not pointing true, etc) that are not being reported in this case (but I am not a scientist, so I may very well be wrong). However, I don’t think there is any real evidence to point to extraterrestrial involvement. The incredible statistical improbability of the strikes does not reliably point to anything other than some outside force influencing the meteorite’s travel. Unfortunately, there is no evidence of what that force may be, only that it exists. Hopefully further study can reveal its identity. For now all we can do is wildly speculate.
