Triangle UFO Spotted Hovering Near Ohio Shopping Center – November 27, 2011

According to the video’s description, a couple noticed this triangular UFO/light formation while leaving a shopping center somewhere in Ohio on November 27th. The report goes on to say that the object held its position for at least an hour before disappearing. Even without any more background information, this video is still interesting. First, we have what appears to be the original audio track and it does not seem to contain any aircraft-type noises. Also, there is plenty of “framing” footage that gives us a good frame of reference and clearly shows that the object is in the sky. Additionally, there is none of the telltale flicker of a Chinese lantern visible. At the end of the clip, we are presented with a zoomed in view of the craft. Here, we can just make out some sort of strobe like flashes present in the lights, which might indicate a terrestrial aircraft, however the light configuration/color scheme doesn’t seem to indicate an aircraft following FAA regulations. This combined with the audio evidence would lead me to believe that this at least not a “normal” aircraft. What then could it be, a UFO, a TR-3b type secret aircraft, or something else? What do you think?

UFO Formation Filmed Over Bergen, Fyllingsdalen, Norway

This interesting piece of UFO evidence comes to us from Bergen, Fyllingsdalen in Norway. Unfortunately we don’t have a date the sighting took place, but it is probably safe to assume this footage was taken sometime near November 14th, 2011 (the date it was posted to YouTube). While there isn’t a great framing shot to give us a clear point of reference, there is a moment where the witness fumbles with the camera and we can see that the objects being filmed are indeed in the sky. Also there doesn’t appear to be any of the tell-tale flashing (or multi-colored lights) that would indicate that the object is aircraft. Additionally, the color of the objects is too light for them to be Chinese lanterns (and again, no flickering). What do you think was in the skies over Bergen?

Strange UFO Lights Caught On Film Over Carp, Ontario – August 19, 2011

Filmed in Carp, Ontario this past August, this video shows a triangular formation of flashing lights. What particularly drew me to this footage is that despite how incredibly close the object or objects seem, you cannot hear anything other than the witness and passing traffic. Had this been an airplane or helicopter, there should have been some sort of familiar sound audible. Also, the lights all appear to be white. Since the object appears to be traveling toward the camera, we would expect red and green marker lights to be visible on an airplane. Additionally, all three white lights appear to be flashing. On an airplane, we would only expect 2 white flashing lights and maybe one or two red flashing beacons. This all seems to lend some credibility to the statement made by the witness in the video that he checked the “radar” and there is nothing nearby. What could have been in the Canadian skies this August night?

Another UFO Sighting Reported In Lee’s Summit, MO – October 31, 2011

Just barely a month ago the first reports of UFOs over Lee’s Summit, Missouri started to pour in. Now we have another report from Lee’s Summit of a UFO spotted on Halloween. The witnesses report seeing the craft while out trick-or-treating, and followed it. Above it the best version of the video available on YouTube. In it we can see a ring of lights moving overhead. In the original version of the clip (embedded bellow), we can hear what sounds like aircraft. Could this footage possibly show the KC Flight Formation Team that claimed responsibility for the first Lee’s Summit sighting?

Unless there is a conspiracy at work to cover up the Lee’s Summit UFO activity using the flight team as a “scapegoat”, I believe the answer to be yes. According this post on the team’s Facebook page, they were performing a flyover at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chief’s game. In fact, the post made Monday morning specifically said, “Monday Night Football, KC Flight will be generating UFO reports as we hold over the Lee’s Summit area, waiting for the run in on Arrowhead for the National Anthem.” Additionally, this photo which was taken at the game shows the flight team passing over the stadium looking a lot like the UFO in the video. Given the preponderance of evidence, it would seem that this UFO sighting can safely be reclassified as an IFO sighting.

While I would have loved this to have been the “smoking gun”, I am still happy with the outcome in this case. Every time the Ufology community is able to find a solid explanation for a sighting, it lends all that more credibility to the sightings we cannot explain. Unfortunately, the opposite is true when we are too quick to jump on an explainable sighting as UFO evidence. In the end, that sort of rash sensationalism ends up hurting the community. Take for example this sighting, a number of large UFO sites were more than happy to just regurgitate a MUFON report, embed a YouTube video and slap the UFO evidence label on the event. It took me maybe 30 minutes to research this sighting and fact check my conclusions. Now, not every UFO sighting is this cut and dry, but as a community we need to look at what we are posting as “evidence” with a critical eye if we want any chance of being taken seriously when we do finally uncover the “smoking gun” that proves beyond any doubt what we all believe.

Does Superman Actor’s Ghost Haunt Former House?

While many have donned the tights since, for anyone who watched TV in the 1950′s, there is only one Superman, George Reeves. Never as squeaky clean as the Man of Steel, Reeves violent death on June 16, 1959 at the age of 45 left a continuing controversy. Ultimately ruled a suicide by the LAPD, several individuals over they years have claimed Reeves was murdered on the orders a former lover, yet no definitive evidence has ever been presented to support the theory. Regardless of how Mr. Reeves ultimately left this plane, it would seem that he is not quite ready to give up his Benedict Canyon home. Since the late 60′s there have been reports of ghostly happening at the residence. Multiple witnesses have reported hearing noises from the bedroom where Reeves died. When they go upstairs to investigate, the room was often found re-arranged. In one instance, renters reported that they heard noises coming from upstairs during a dinner party. When they went to investigate, Reeves’ former room was torn apart as if someone was looking for something. After cleaning up the room, the group returned downstairs to find their drinks had been moved from the coffee table to the kitchen. Other reports of paranormal activity at the home range from the smell of gunpowder filling the room to appearances by Reeves’ apparition in full Superman regalia.

Giant Lego Minifig Washes Ashore On Florida Coast

Being a Floridian I have spent more than my fare share of time on the state’s beaches and from time to time have seen some weird stuff wash up on shore, but I have never seen anything this weird/awesome in my life. Earlier today at Siesta Key Village, Florida, Jeff Hindman found a giant Lego Minifig washed up on the beach. Now for the life of me, I can not understand why he left the 8 foot figure on the beach (if I had found it, it so would be sitting in my living room making my inner child uncontrollably giddy), but he did.

Amazingly, this is not the first time that this has happened. Yes, giant Minifigs have washed up onshore before. Four years ago a similar Minifig was found in Holland followed by a second in Brighton, England a year later. At the time research into the giant Minifigs revealed a connection to a website for Ego Leonard which is apparently run by a group of Dutch artists. Could this giant Lego have spent years floating in the Atlantic before making its way to the Sunshine State or is it part of a new group of giant figures deposited off the Florida coast (possibly linked to recent opening of LegoLand Florida)?

UFO Spotted Shadowing Chemtrail Plane – San Jose, CA [October 23, 2011]

Here we have an interesting video that comes to us via Youtube user “controlfreakssuckass“. Recorded Sunday, October 23rd, the video shows an object that appears to be flying near or in the spray of a chemtrail plane. Judging from the video, the object appears to pass over the chemtrail which gives us an idea of its altitude. What is extremely interesting about this video is that the object appears to change course as the spray plane passes by. It is hard to tell from the video, but the object may have even passed through the trail of “yuck” (to quote the videographer). Because of the near 180 degree shift in the object’s heading, I feel comfortable ruling out a balloon. Also, since we can infer that the object is traveling at high altitude, we can also rule out the object being a bird. This leaves us to ponder exactly what the object might be.

If we look at the context of the sighting, it would almost seem as the object purposefully intercepted the chemtrail plane. Assuming the object passed through the spray (and this is, given the evidence we have, a rather large assumption), it would also seem to reason that the object was “sampling” the chemtrail. While I have my own (wildly unfounded) theories on why this would happen that range from corporate espionage to quality control for a global conspiracy preparing the Earth for an alien invasion, I am interested in hearing what you think is going on here. Two Glowing UFOs Spotted Hovering Over Utrecht, Netherlands [October 19, 2011]

Normally, I am not one to post videos or pictures of single points of light in the distance, but for some reason this video of two glowing UFOs hovering in the sky that was shot yesterday in Utrecht, Netherlands just seemed to stick out. For one, the person filming seems to be genuinely surprised by what he is seeing. Also, the objects themselves seem to behave in an interesting manner. In most “single point of light” footage there is some apparent movement, here there is none. The objects also disappear and reappear in the exact same position. Normally in “single point of light” videos we see a constant or flickering light. Additionally, the objects remain at the same point in the sky despite lateral camera movement. If we were looking at reflections in the window (which is a common technique in hoax videos) they would have moved with the camera. Ultimately though, we can only speculate on what the two glowing objects really are.

Yet Another Chicago Mothman Sighting Reported

It would seem that the bat-like Chicago Mothman that we have been following for the last week has made yet another appearance. Here we have a report submitted to the UFO Clearinghouse (unedited):

“I am currently attending university in Chicago , Illinois and I wanted to respond to the informational flyers about recent events involving the large bat-like creatures. I was enjoying an evening with my girlfriend and taking a well deserved break from my studies. We decided to go out and enjoy the unusually warm weather that we were having and go for a walk. As we walked toward a community park near the campus, we were talking about our classes when a commotion amongst a group of people caught our attention. As we looked toward the group of about 4-5 people, something caught my eye and I looked up to see this thing fly overhead.

It looked like a man; it looked like a man with wings! He flew about 10-12 feet above us and was perfectly silhouetted against the evening sky. In all honesty, it looked like an immensely oversized Sugar Glider, the kind I would see back home in Tasmania . It had the rough shape of a sugar glider, but its eyes were nothing like the soft eyes of a glider. They glowed red! We saw it for about 4 seconds before it disappeared from view. At first I thought I saw a man in a hang glider, but it was those bloody eyes that made me thing otherwise!

I at first thought of ringing someone, but I didn’t want them to think I had gone crazy. To say that I was Gobsmacked would have been an understatement”

As one commenter on UFO Clearinghouse stated, the report seems a little “overwritten”, but I am not as quick to immediately write it off as a hoax as the commenter is (though I am not about to accept it as gospel either). There are some people who just happen write/talk in an overly flowery manner for a number of reasons. It is troubling that the report while so full of “detail” seems to lack any real detail of the encounter like where or when it occurred. It is possible that those details are missing because the encounter never happened. I also think that it is possible, especially if more cowardice was involved in the encounter that the witness is willing to admit, that he may not be sure where or when the encounter happened and the extra fluff is an attempt to compensate for the details he is to proud to admit. If the Chicago Mothman is becoming a “thing” we do need to become more mindful of hoaxes as the awareness of the phenomena grows. Unfortunately, we will see false reports from skeptics poking fun at investigators and from everyday people who just want to be a part of the excitement. Hopefully more witnesses will come forward and help to corroborate these Mothman sightings.

New Chicago Mothman Evidence Emerges

Earlier this week we reported on possible Mothman/bat-like creature sighting in the University Park area of Chicago. Yesterday, photo evidence of a similar type creature was submitted to the MUFON database. Taken September 22, 2011 on the corner of 63rd St. and Pulaski Rd. by an individual using a HTC Sensation 4G to photograph the large indian statue that sits on the building at the northwest corner of the intersection (apparently, when viewed from this particular angle the statue’s left thumb sticks out giving the illusion that his “totem pole” is showing). At home, the photographer reviewed the images and noticed a black object in one of the photos just to the left of the indian (enhanced with 4x magnification to the left). Upon enlarging the image, he noticed that the object appeared to be some sort of large bat like creature.

Examining what appears to be the original image, there does not appear to be any obvious fakery/photoshopping (though I will be the first to admit that I am no expert in image forensics). This leads me to believe that the bat-like object was in fact present when the photo was taken. This leaves us to consider where the object was in relation to the camera. Was it closer than the cars in the foreground, making is relatively small, or was it beyond the indian statue (which would make it quite large)? Unfortunately, there is no good frame of reference for us to really judge size by. However, in the original image, the “creature” appears sharp and focused, as does the indian, satellite dish and street lamp. Most likely since the photo’s true subject (the indian) was so far away, the camera was set to infinite focus. This means that anything over a certain distance from the lens should appear, more or less, in focus. Since the object is more or less in focus, I am led to believe that it is in fact positioned at a equal or greater distance from the camera as the foreground cars and is quite large. The fact that the witness did not notice the creature at the time the photo was taken would seem to support this hypothesis.

Could then, if this photo is not a hoax, the creature in this photo be the the same one spotted by multiple witnesses eight days later in Miller Park? The two locations are only separated by approximately 7 miles and in the photo the creature seems to be flying away from the camera (assuming a bat-like anatomy), which was facing North Northeast, which happens to in the direction of the second sighting. If neither report is a hoax, then it seems it would be safe to assume that the creature in this photo is at least the same type of creature (if not the same one) that was later spotted in the University Park area. This only leaves one question, what exactly has taken to the skies above Chicago? Is the windy city the latest host of a Mothman or is the bat-like creature something else entirely?
