Does this CCTV footage show a young girl’s ghost?

Here is an interesting video that is making the rounds today. It is supposedly from a mobile phone shop in Leeds, Yorkshire in the UK. In the video we see what appears to be the apparition of a girl cross a doorway in the upper right portion of the screen. The poster claims that after researching the shop he found that it was built on the site of the “Yorkshire Orphan Asylum”. A quick Google search for that name doesn’t turn up anything other than stories about this clip. In addition to this inconsistency, we have a strange anomaly in the time code on the footage. The CCTV system seems to be taking 1 frame every 2 seconds, starting at 01:46:58. The next step is 01:47:00 but then it jumps to 01:47:01 then proceeds in 2 second increments until the end of the clip. To me this jump seems to indicate the footage has been tampered with, either with someone inserting the time code into the footage to make it appear more authentic (but messing up the intervals) or someone editing 1 frame/sec or faster footage to have it appear more “ghostly” or to remove telltale clues. Additionally we have quite a bit of lead-up footage, but only a single frame after the “spirit” leaves the view. Why not show more? This makes me wonder what the poster doesn’t want us to see. Presented with what we have here, I am inclined to say, for now, that this is a hoax unless more evidence is presented to prove otherwise. What do you think? Hoax? Ghost? Strange Object Spotted Over The UK

Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about this video other than it was supposedly filmed somewhere in the UK. According to Youtube user evpman, he was out filming chemtrails when he spotted this strange object overhead, which he reports was red in color. While even the witness thinks there is a possibility that this may just be a balloon, I am not ready to say that it is with any certainty. This is primarily because the object appears to be very stable in flight, which is not something that you would expect a balloon carried aloft to exhibit. What do you think, did evpman capture a UFO on film or is what he saw a simple balloon?

Strange light filmed flying along side a jetliner, is it a UFO?

Filmed the 15th of May on the UK coast near Marsden, this footage shows a strange light that appears to fly along side a airplane as it flies over head. The camera is relatively stable which rules out a recording glitch causing one of the marker lights to appear detached from the plane. Additionally, the swarm of flies that are in the shot don’t seem to be reflecting any light at all, making it highly unlikely one of the bugs managed to catch the sun in such a way as to create such a bright light. This leaves me wondering what exactly we are seeing in the video. Is the bright light the sun’s reflection or is the object generating the light on it’s own? Is this a UFO or something else? When you think of surfing, you usually think of surfers riding ocean waves breaking on the shore. However yesterday, the hot surf spot was the River Severn in the UK. The surfers lined up to catch the Severn Bore, a large wave caused by rising tides funneled into the river from the Severn estuary (which has the second largest tidal range in the world). According to the British surfing association, surfers have been riding the Bore since the 60′s trying to see who can take the longest ride. In 2006 a British surfer named Steve King set the world record for the longest surf ride when he rode the Severn Bore for 7.6 miles (besting the previous world record of 6.3 miles set on a river in Brazil). Surfers who came out yesterday were treated to a “once-in-a-decade” five star rated tidal event.

Cigar-Shaped UFO Spotted Over Somerset, UK

According to the poster on YouTube, this video was sent to their website sometime last year. Taken by campers in Somerset, it shows a cigar-shaped object at what appears to be a high altitude above the camp.

Could this be footage of an actual UFO flying over Great Britain? The object appears to be hovering rather still, and from the amount of zooming to bring the object into frame, it appears to be at a high altitude (though a small object at a lower altitude is also possible). What do you think the campers saw over Somerset? Let us know in the comments.

Chinese lantern ban would be boon to UK Ufologists

With sales of paper Chinese lanterns (or sky lanterns) soaring over the last two years in the UK, the National Farmers Union have expressed grave concern over the risk the lanterns pose to livestock. The simple lanterns, constructed of paper, wire and a candle, are often launched to mark special occasions and can fly many miles from where they are launched. This poses a risk to grazing animals that inadvertently ingest pieces of wire from lanterns that land in their fields. The House of Lords have taken up the cause and are moving to join several other nations, including Malta, Germany and Australia, that have already banned sky lanterns.

Since Chinese lanterns can fly very high, can move around erratically, and are silent, they are often confused for UFOs. The potential ban would eliminate these false sightings, a major boon for ufologists working in the UK. With the sheer number of UFO sightings reported every year (well over 4,000 sightings were reported to the National UFO Reporting Center in the US last year), any reduction in the possible number of sightings is a welcome relief to any serious researcher investigating the UFO phenomenon.

[UPDATED] Even as the UK’s Ministry of Defense closes the department responsible for investigating UFO sightings, the strange occurrences in the skies above Britain continue as evidenced by this Youtube video shot in Dublin. The film, which was shot through a night vision scope, clearly shows a triangular craft of unknown origin flying across the night sky.

UPDATE: Turns out the Sun (the bastion of responsible journalism that it is *cough*) just recycled a much older UFO video that wasn’t even shot in Dublin as a new sighting. Lowbrow sensationalist tactics like this are exactly why it is so hard to get reliable information about UFOs and the paranormal. Sorry for getting caught up in the BS.

British cops using false arrest to bolster DNA database?

Britain’s DNA database is unquestionably one of the largest (if not the largest) such database in the world. Its tremendous size is due in part to the blatant flaunting of EU court rulings (which as part of the EU Britain has agreed to abide by) regarding the storage of DNA records of innocent individuals. Instead of immediately purging DNA of innocent parties from the database the UK maintains those records for six years. According to a new report by the government’s advisory board on the development of human genetics, police in the UK may be abusing the country’s lax DNA rules to ensure that the database contains information on whomever they wish.

During its investigation, the commission found that it has now become routine practice to take a DNA sample at the time of arrest (rather than after a conviction), guaranteeing the samples availability for at least six years. In fact, the commission found evidence that officers will arrest potential subjects on any grounds just to obtain DNA samples. In some cases the arrestees are not even formally charged with a crime. According to data released by the home secretary there are nearly one million DNA profiles belonging to innocent individuals in the database. While innocent citizens currently make up only 20% of the database (a figure that is alarmingly high), the data suggest that figure will continue to rise unless some form of oversight is put into place to prevent this abuse from continuing.

UFO Spotted In Picture Taken From A Jetliner

The picture below was taken by Flickr user Magic_lamp while on a RyanAir fight from Portugal to the UK this May. He says, that despite being very cliche for this type of photo, he did not notice the dark spot in the upper left of the image along the curvature of the earth when he took the photograph.

At first glance, it appears to be a speck of something stuck to the window of the plane, but as you look closer it become apparent that what ever was there was not stuck to the plane. When you blow up the object things begin to get interesting…

As you can see, the object does not appear to be any sort of known aircraft or balloon. At this level of magnification we can begin to see that the object appears to be three dimensional. When you look at the cloud tops and the engine cowling, it appears that the object was being lit by the same light source as the engine and clouds. This becomes clearer as we further enlarge and inhance the image. This time to 1700% of the original size (this was done with SmillaEnlarger at the default setting).

Here we can see from the shadows on the object that it appears to have convex sides and that the side of the object facing away from the viewer may be curved or have curved corners. Additionally, we can see that the 4 blue dots along the dark side of the object that were visible at the lower magnification appear to be part of some sort of circular structures stretching the width of the object. Unfortunately with only one photograph we have no clue which direction (if any) the object is traveling in, but if we assume the object is traveling away from the camera, the dark section we are seeing may be the external portions of a propulsion system. This could provide a plausible explanation for the darker coloration which could either be the result of exhaust from the system, or the propulsion system being recessed into the craft to reduce the thermal or infrared signature of the craft (like was done on the Stealth Fighter).

What we are seeing in this picture is anybodies guess, but baring a well executed hoax, it appears to be some sort of UFO. Whether its origin is terrestrial or extraterrestrial, while I cannot personally vouch for the photographer and I am not an expert at image analysis, this appears to be a photo of something that is currently unknown to the general public and I want to thank Magic_lamp for sharing it with us.
